New Beginnings
_Shim strides out the tavern door, his cloak seeming to drift off his body, carried away by the winds on its own adventure. His calm yet intense face seeming to flow with his long black locks. As if driven by a single goal his legs carry him to his destination: the Arena._
Ghoza (2 days earlier, at front of the arena)
_An old and portly man stands in front of the arena. His tailored suit seeming heavily out of place in this town of thieves and criminals. A confident, somewhat aloof smile plastered on his round face as he speaks to the crowd that has gathered._
Mayor Reias: People, people, it is my pleasure to announce that in the coming days, the Ghoza Games will be officially opened. All fighters are welcome to enter and any betting will be sanctioned and funneled through my office. The reward this year will be 5,000 gold coins and a chance to fight the current champion. (Despite his simple look, Reias was crooked as sin and would kick a baby if it meant he'd make a dollar.)
_The crowd roars and cheers at the announcement, many different figures moving out of the crowd to enter the arena hall. The promise of money and fame more than enough to stir their beautiful greed._
(Ghoza arena, the morning of the games)
_Nothing but confidence fills Shim's face as he strolls up the steps of the arena, vividly analyzing all the participants. The happy look drops as he gazes up at the banner of the arena, a poster of the champion plastered on the front. A low growl escapes Shim's lips at the sight._
Shim: Jegan.
_His attention shifts as the sounds of trumpets fill the air, like a pack of wolves. The participants rush through the gates, weapons drawn, as the piercing eyes of the crowd drill into them. Mayor Reias steps up to an elevated platform as he prepares an announcement._
Mayor Reias: Attention participants of the Ghoza Games! There will be two stages this year. The first will be an all-out battle until six people are left. And the second stage will be a series of one-on-ones in elimination style. When I shoot my gun, stage one will officially begin.
_At the sound of the announcement, Shim takes a seat at the back of the arena, his back pressed against a wall as he closes his eyes. The sound of a gun firing barely audible to his tranquil mind. In the instant the gun was shot, Jegan stood in front of a single participant, his decapitated head held in his hands._"Everyone get ready,"_he smiles as he raises the man's head a meter from the ground, his cocky grin ever-present as he releases the head disappearing from sight. Like clockwork nearly every participant drops to the floor, the lack of a head matching them all. Out of sixty people a mere five remain unfazed nor bothered by the events._
_The crowd remains silent, a sinister tension filling the air. Breaking the silence, the thunderously loud claps of the champion would be heard as he heartily makes his way towards the rest of the participants._
Jegan: Well, well, well. I must say that was quite beautiful. Out of everyone here, only you five were lucky enough to not be attacked. You must have the luck of the devil.
_Reias cuts into the speech_
Reias: Erm... I uh, must ask where are the um, heads of these poor fellows?
_Jegan laughs yet again, his wicked smile pointing off to the horizon. In the distance, the heads could barely be seen, neatly stacked to form a tower._

Let the games begin.
What is a soul? Is it our identity, our personality, is it what makes us ourselves, does it define that we are alive? If a man loses his soul, where does it go? Does that soul formulate its own identity, or is it still the man? But then who is the man? What is loyalty?
